Christine
Vinh was born and raised in Viet Nam. In 1980, he and his sister escaped Viet Nam by boat. While at sea, he encountered thirst, hunger, and pirates. Finally, he and his sister were rescued by a West German Ship (Cap Anamur). After graduating from University of Maryland, he taught at Georgetown Prep. School for 14 years. He currently lives in Honolulu with his wife Mimi and daughter Miranda. He and his wife are both teachers at Punahou and Sacred Hearts Academy. This is going to be his ninth trip to Viet Nam with his students.
Mimi is married to Vinh Dang, they met on the tennis court 26 years ago. After her post doctoral position at The Institute for Genomic Research, she decided to go into teaching and ended up loving it. Mimi teaches Physics at the Sacred Hearts Academy. This is her eighth trip to Viet Nam.
Christine teaches math at Punahou and this is her first trip to Viet Nam. She is married and has a 10 year old daughter. She has taught in Minnesota, Venezuela, and Hawaii. She has traveled to Europe, S. America, Japan and Korea.
